Located in Pittsburgh, Pa., Carnegie Mellon is a global research university and one of the world’s most renowned educational institutions, as well as the alma mater of both Srilakshmi Remala and Srilata Remala.

In 2012, The Remala Foundation endowed a pair of scholarships at the university, each of which is awarded annually to students who qualify for financial aid. One supports graduate students studying healthcare or healthcare policy, and the other supports undergraduates who are pursuing degrees in the social sciences, humanities, or engineering. Together, the two scholarships have been awarded 25 times, and some students have received funding for multiple years.

"The Remala Foundation has supported Carnegie Mellon students for over a decade,” says Ramayya Krishnan, Dean of the university’s Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy. “Because of their vision and generosity, we attract outstanding students who otherwise would not have had access to a life-changing Carnegie Mellon education. The Remalas’ impact will be felt here for generations."
